Rihanna Sweeps First Ever Barbados Music Awards

Teen star Rihanna received a rousing welcome home in her native Barbados Sunday, January 15, 2006. She was presented with 8 awards ranging from Best New Artist to Song of the Year ("Pon De Replay"), Album of the Year (Music of the Sun) and Entertainer of the Year. She performed 4 songs for the enraptured audience. The awards ceremony lasted 4 hours and included citations for everything from Best Christmas Album to Best Social Commentary.
