This isn't the first time the song "Someday" (Listen) has benefited the hip hop/rock group Flipsyde. It was originally written and recorded years ago and was a major catalyst in helping the group get a recording contract with Interscope Records subsidiary Cherrytree. That wasn't the last time "Someday" was in the right place at the right time.
In June, 2005, NBC Olympics marketing execs were looking for a song to anchor their advertising for the Winter Olympics broadcasts in 2006. A wide range of major record labels submitted possible candidates including Interscope, part of the Universal Music Group. "Someday" was one of a handful of songs Interscope VP Tony Seyler sent to NBC. Barbara Blangiardi, NBC's advertising agency's vice president of marketing and special projects, told the Boston Globe "''We instantly loved it. We literally ran upstairs to the president of the agency."
Since that happy alignment of the stars, Flipsyde's image has been rising. Their first album We the People, which failed to chart upon release in 2005, has finally made an appearance on Billboard's Heatseekers album chart. The single "Someday" has started to sell through online music services, and, when the Olympics begin a week and a half from now, much of the world will become acquainted with the music of Flipsyde.
