It has been 10 years since Lionel Richie last hit the pop top 40 and nearly 20 since he was last in the top 10, but he's coming out swinging this time. Working with hot producers Stargate (the guys behind Ne-Yo's "So Sick" and Rihanna's "Unfaithful"), his new single goes to radio in July with an album to follow in September. Interestingly, this song had its television debut May 19, 2006 in a Nightline piece with Iraqi people, both Sunni and Shiite, discussing how much they love Lionel Richie's music. I heard him interviewed on a local radiocast on the way to the work and I was late for work because when he started singing this song I HAD to listen to it until the end. It was THAT good, LIONEL is BACK!! and he’s GOT the good STILL (and then SOME!) WELCOME BACK into our hearts and souls!

I don’t care what anyone says, this song is one of the greatest he’s ever made. I’m not a former fan of his, but I know some of his past music and this is one is among his best. I want to tell Lionel Richie to keep up the good work and I am now a very big fan of his!!!

When I heard the radio announcer mention he had a new song – I was like…”oh brother” but it’s really a very nice song. He’s using a contemporary sound and layering his vocals over it…thank goodness, maybe we can back to singers that actually sing!
I heard this song and I had to put it on single track repeat for about 3 hours! Lionel is bringing the old school soul voice back with a contempary feel. Another hit for Stargate, another hit for Lionel, most definetly.
“I Call It Love”. Lionel Richie is sooo great. I mean truly…how do you explain how great this man is!
The minute I heard “I call it love” for the first time, I downloaded it as my ringtone.
And when I finally got back home I downloaded the cd from walmart online. And then when my hubby got home…yeah..I call it it love!
And in a few months we’ll be calling the result of it BABY Brother for our daughter!!
