Weekly Pop Music Blog Roundup July 2, 2006
Sunday July 2, 2006
A quick roundup of some of the interesting commentary in the blogosphere this week:
- Since this is the week of Nelly Furtado reaching #1 with "Promiscuous," it seems appropriate to note the lengthy intellectual discussion of promiscuity on Slaves of Academe.
- Christina Aguilera's recent dipping into the sounds of the 1940's reminds us that pop music did indeed begin before rock 'n' roll. This week Music You (Possibly) Won't Hear Anyplace Else takes us back to some interesting tracks from those pre-rock 'n' roll years.
- It does seem that this is shaping up to be the summer of the pop divas. Happy FourFourth has an entertaining commentary on Jessica Simpson's "A Public Affair."
- Janet Jackson, Beyonce, Christina Aguilera? Clay Cane has words of wisdom on the topic...and, if you wish a different point of view on Janet and Beyonce, you'll get it from SOHH Soulful.
- Finally, it seems the NY Post is in the business of oddsmaking on the song of the summer 2006. Stereogum has the details
