Weekly Pop Music Blog Roundup - July 9, 2006
Sunday July 9, 2006
It may be a hot, humid summer that tends to inspire laziness, but the pop music world is rolling right along.
- In case you don't remember, the 10th anniversary of the Spice Girls' "Wannabe" (Listen) is upon us, and Sweeping the Nation is heping us celebrate.
- The St. Petersburg Times pop music blog is also in a helpful mood giving us some pointers on pop music on planes. You get a few extra points if you remember why James Taylor's "Fire and Rain" is a particularly bad choice for listening on a plane ride.
- The annual American Idol concert tour kicked off this week and Gizmeister Chronicles gives us a great fan review of the evening.
- Of course, as the week wound down, Justin Timberlake came back to carry us all into the weekend. Mixed opinions seem rampant. Read the words of a Billboard intern on the return of Justin Timberlake as well as Madlife's enthusiastic welcome back.
- Finally, Stereogum reported on the New York Post's odds on THE song of the summer. While you're at it, don't miss the poll on this site on the topic.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
