The Buzz Grows Intense Around Cobra Starship's "Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)"

Wednesday July 12, 2006

Snakes on a Plane starring Samuel L. Jackson and due out August 18, 2006 is one of the most eagerly awaited movies of the summer, and the soundtrack is turning into a punk pop phenomenon. Cobra Starship, the musical project behind "Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)" is a supergroup of a sort that features members from some of the hottest upcoming punk pop groups of the moment.

Gabe Saporta, vocalist for the group Midtown, already was putting together his project Cobra Starship when he heard about the movie Snakes on a Plane. The names were so similar he decided his group needed to be part of the project. Cobra Starship's "Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)," the theme from the movie, includes, in addition to Saporta, William Beckett of the Academy Is ..., Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes and Maja Ivarsson of the Sounds. A full-length album is still underway and will most likely include guest appearances from members of groups who share a heritage of appearing on the annual Warped Tour.

The soundtrack to Snakes on a Plane will be released as an album in August as a joint project between New Line Records and Decaydance Records, the label owned by Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz. The soundtrack will include music by Fall Out Boy, Panic! At the Disco, All-American Rejects, and many others.
