Spot-on review, Bill. The melody & his smooth voice makes this song work, despite sounding a tad formulaic to me. I’ve heard him do astounding covers of “Whiter Shade of Pale” (bonus track on iTunes cd) and “I Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know”, from his VA State Fair concert, found on Youtube. He could go quite far…
Elliott Yamin has the ability to control what is happening in a song. That is talent alone. Elliott can switch the song up , change it, give a different vibe to it and also make it a very distinctive sound that is Elliott’s. His tone is unique and his style is too. Elliott’s style is vocal gymnastics with great arrangements that change and make it all different with his creative ability. I have heard him sing his songs and change them. He can adlib a song to what he feels and it all comes out great. This song Elliott put a very contemporary feel to it. I know if Elliott wanted to change it to lower tone vocals ,blues it up he can do it.
Great fan of him when he belted Moody’s Mood for love in AI last year. And this song and his whole debut album has proven that he is a great artist with a fantastic vocal gift. I just love the richness of his voice. He will indeed go far…. Elliot, all the best!
