Cartel's Band In a Bubble Experiment

It seems part commercial hype and part socio-cultural experiment. On May 24, 2007, the band Cartel, who recently hit the pop charts with the single "Honestly," were sealed inside a giant transparent bubble on Hudson River Park's Pier 54 in New York. There the band will spend nearly 3 weeks eating, sleeping, and working on a new album. Web cams throught the bubble will record the entire process for public viewing. On June 12, 2007, the bubble will burst, and the band is scheduled to appear to play live the new material for the new album they have created.
The whole grand event is sponsored by Dr. Pepper, and the web cams will stream live at Dr. Pepper's Band In a Bubble official site. MTV is also getting in on the act. The network is making a special reality series of the process available for on-demand viewing at MTV.com.
Will Cartel generate a worthy follow up to "Honestly"? Will we get to hear the band singing the "I'm a Pepper, you're a Pepper..." song? Or will it all just end up as empty hype? Tune in May 24th!
