Rumors have flourished almost from the time the group went their separate ways in 2001 that the Spice Girls would someday reunite. Today the group made it official. They plan to reunite and set out on a brief 11 show tour in December, 2007 and January, 2008. What happens after that remains open.
The Spice Girls burst onto the pop music scene first in the UK in the summer of 1996, but soon SpiceMania swept the world. Although the group only released 3 studio albums, they generated an amazing 9 #1 hit singles in the UK. In the US they were no slouches either with 4 top 10's including 4 weeks at the top for "Wannabe," the breakthrough Spice Girls single. The group has sold somewhere in the range of 40 million albums worldwide.
All of the former group members have released solo albums and had some success as solo artists. Every former Spice Girl has released at least 3 Top 10 UK pop singles. Geri Halliwell, aka Ginger Spice, has been the most successful on the charts with 8 Top 10 singles including 4 #1's. However, all 5 have seen their fortunes as recording artists fade in recent years.
