Last night Madonna, one of the biggest pop stars of all time, was formally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She was introduced by Justin Timberlake who has helped produce Madonna's upcoming album. He said, "The world is full of Madonna wannabes. I might have even dated a couple...But there is truly only one Madonna."
In her acceptance of the honor, Madonna spoke about key moments of her career. She also explained how critics have aided her career as well. The people who "said I was talentless, that I was chubby, that I couldn't sing, that I was a one-hit wonder, they helped me, too. They inspired me because they made me question myself repeatedly and pushed me to be better." ovAmong Madonna's achievements are over 200 million albums sold worldwide, 6 #1 hit albums in the US, 12 #1 hit singles, and an amazing 36 trips to the top 10.
The other inductees of the night included rocker John Mellencamp, Philly soul pioneers Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff, poet and songwriter Leonard Cohen, the Dave Clark Five, and the Ventures. Check out the video below for a look back at the early days of Madonna's phenomenal career.
