Clay Aiken Is On His Way to a New Album

With the upcoming album On My Way Here, due in stores May 6, 2008, Clay Aiken fans will get what they've been looking for a long time, an album of original material. His last album, A Thousand Different Ways, disappointed many fans due to the fact it was loaded with covers of popular love songs. The albums sales were lackluster, and, with the assistance of producer Mark "Kipper" Eldridge, Aiken has decided to head in a different direction this time out.
On his official web site, Clay Aiken discusses how a song from OneRepublic's leader Ryan Tedder set the tone for his new album. The song deals with the shaping of our adult lives by lessons we learn growing up. "“I thought if we could find songs along those lines, that deal with my life over the past five years and what I’ve learned from my experiences, it would be a great concept for an album." Check out the link below at AOL Music where Clay discusses working with his producer.

I realize Clays “A Thousand Different Ways” didn’t sell as many as his first album, but I wouldn’t call 5 or 600,000 albums sold lackluster. Unless the music industry has another measurement I’m not aware of and that can very well be the case.
I really don’t care how many album sales were tallied up, Clay is still “THE MAN”on singing. Just think how many people enjoyed hearing that marvelous voice. If he sang the phone book as an album I would buy it.
Good blog but I wouldn’t put words in the fans mouths by saying we were disappointed. We were not disappointed because it was a great remix of songs! He also sold quite a lot of that album so I wouldn’t call sales lackluster either.
Selling Gold is a dissapointmentt. How many artist would want to have an album full of love songs turn into Gold.
ATDW ia a classic and only clay could have tun it into Gold. It shows Clay versatilty
I think a lot of people pre-judged the last album without hearing it. It was a good album, just not all new material, so some just said “Never mind”. I think this new one is going to be great and he’ll get terrific sales.
I cannot wait for Clay’s new CD. He never disappoints…
I believe his sales for ATDW were amazing, considering there was never any airplay. How many artists could sell 1/2 a million without being on the radio?
Let’s hope this time around the music industry stops and notices his amazing voice.
I liked last cd very much. I listen to it all the time. He deserved to get air play at the radio stations. It just did not happen and that was a shame. I love Clay’s voice.
I don’t know if anyone remembers Clay’s first album, but according to Clive Davis they had to ship out 2 million cd’s the first week and that cd received 0 radio play. I’d like to see someone pull that off.
Yeah, Clay’s first CD did fantastic thanks to the American Idol connection and Clive Davis’s coaching. The covers CD was nice but too much of a girly-man voice and the fans had a fit over the sloooow songs. Claymates like to shake their bootay for their boyfriend Clay!
The brilliant (not!)Clive Davis “mandated” (Clay’s words) that he do his last cover CD. Clive is clueless! However, Clay did a wonderful job on it anyway — his versions were outstanding, Clay was awesome as usual, and it’s a CD classic. However, even Clay joked at many concerts about the sloooooooow songs! This new CD is going to be what he wanted all along. The man simply never disappoints. Music, TV shows, his book, and Spamalot on Broadway–what a remarkable talent, and a simply beautiful man inside and out! Love him!
