Jordin Sparks Never Singing Again?

A potential career-threatening injury to her vocal cords has caused Jordin Sparks, reigning American Idol champion and budding pop star, to cancel 3 live performances including the first date on her tour with Alicia Keys. The injury was described, according to Billboard, as an "acute vocal cord hemorrhage." A Jive Records spokesperson is quoted saying "Jordin is on a vocal rest, but she's expected to make a full recovery and join Alicia on tour in May." Sparks herself and her management team have not yet commented officially on the injury.
The New York Post reports that the injury is a serious one and can sometimes require laser surgery for correction. Sparks currently is riding a wave of pop success that puts her in the top tier of other former American Idol champions and contestants. Her current single, "No Air," with Chris Brown, is her second consecutive top 10 pop hit. A curtailment to Jordin Sparks' career at this point would be a tragedy. All of our best wishes are with Jordin and her family.
