David Archuleta Signs a Record Deal

We should be seeing albums this fall or winter by at least 2 of this year's American Idol contestants. A David Cook album will appear as a result of his victory. Now runner-up David Archuleta has been signed to a recording contract as well.

19 Recordings / Jive Records announced yesterday that Archuleta had been signed to a contract that would result in an album later this year. For much of this year's American Idol season, David Archuleta was picked as a favorite to win. However, when the finale rolled around he was defeated handily by David Cook who won by a margin of over 12 million votes.
