It's a small part and he will be playing himself, but many many David Archuleta fans are likely to celebrate when last year's American Idol runner-up makes his acting debut on Nickelodeon's iCarly February 7, 2009. He will appear as a contestant on an American Idol style show titled America Sings. Carly Shay, the main character in the show, is also a teenage singer.
Archuleta has had strong success in the pop music world since the end of the American Idol competition. His self-titled debut album reached #2 on the US album chart and has been certified gold for sales over 500,000. His single "Crush" reached #12 on the pop singles chart in the US.

I can’t believe what a awsome job you are doing! You are the most amazing American Idol I have ever seen and I am waiting to see if you will come to Wichita and show the people that don’t know how awsome you are what a amazing voice you have!
Way to go David!
What was on HGTV? Oh, also, woo-hoo David A. solo tour! See ya in Mad-Town, WI..
“Crush” actually reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Gosh…I wish they would’ve got the article correct! “Crush” was #2, not #12 on the billboard chart! Oh well…WE know what He did! I couldn’t be happier for David and his Family. Having David go on his OWN solo tour is exciting for him and for us. I couldn’t make Chicago, but Columbus, Ohio here we come! GO BIG D!!!!!!!!!!
“Crush” reached #12 on the Billboard Pop 100, which is Billboard’s pop singles chart as mentioned in the article. The Billboard Hot 100 is a “catch all” chart not specifically pop. More here http://top40.about.com/od/popmusic101/a/billboardcharts.htm
