Susan Boyle's "Wild Horses" Rolling Stones Cover Leaks Onto the Internet

Sunday September 13, 2009

This one you might have to search YouTube a bit for, as it seems like the posted files are being yanked almost as soon as they are posted. However, the news is that Susan Boyle's version of the Rolling Stones classic "Wild Horses" has been leaked, and, in one word, it is stunning. The song itself is well deserved of accolades as a classic. The choice of it as a song for Susan Boyle to sing is impressively inspired. Her delivery is flawless. If this is truly a sign of what we have to expect from her upcoming album I Dreamed a Dream, it will be a blockbuster. Susan Boyle is expected to appear this week on US television as part of the finale of America's Got Talent.

Just fabulous version of the Stones song. What a singer. If the rest of the album is anything like this Susan has no worries. She’s going to be the greatest British export since the Beatles.

It is unfortunate the song got leaked but the timing was incredible… while she was on her way to America! So it left her USA fans even more ecstatic and enthralled. I was amongst those who heard it yesterday and thought it was a legitimate release. But the song is so far beyond breathtaking and stunning there are no words to describe it! Wow! Now I REALLY can’t wait for the CD. And Susan… welcome to America!! :)

Agree with Dave. Great interpetation of Wild Horses. I didn’t like the Stones’ version. I’ll have to listen to the Sundays and the other versions that are around. But I REALLY like this one.

When she sang the phrase, “I watched you suffer,” I broke down. I’m still crying. I’ve never been moved so much by music.

Wow. I have always loved this song but never have I been so emotionally affected by it. All the years susan has lived up til now are poured into her music and she touches the place in all of us that feels deeply. This is her gift along with an amazing voice. Cheers Susan!

(12) RickB says:

Everyone wondered if Susan Boyle was just a novelty – Scottish spinster with a good “church” voice. We have the answer. “Wild Horses” was a great choice. And the arrangement was brilliant in it’s simplicity. But she had to sing it. There were passages that were drenched in despair and regret. Then that soaring voice, summoning such pain. It pierced the heart like a knife. I don’t think this can be taught. It comes from someplace deep. We may be hearing genius.

(13) Barb A says:

Agree with the comments that Susan has brought new meaning to the Stones’ original. In thinking of its meaning coming fromo Susan. Her mother came to mind as in someone caring for a parent who in aging becomes childlike again and then in suffering is not kind to caregivers and no one wants to turn their back on this situation. So, it came home to me with new meaning in my caring for my terminally ill husband who recently died.
What a wonderful song the way Susan delivers it!

NOOOOOOO … this has none of the emotion that the original had – she has turned the song into a feel good, crooner song – no

(18) Paul says:

Rick B did hit the nail on the head with his critique of Susan Boyle and her interpretation of “Wild Horses”. What struck me with this version is the orchestration, and the deep lows and huge highs that Miss Boyle sings so effortlessly.

I am the one of many who watched her performance on AGT, and when I heard it then, chills went up and down my spine. I have ordered her album, and found myself, and still do, listening to her version of “Wild Horses” over and over. I am a grown man who is proud to say that each and every time I listen to this tune, I am always filled with deep emotion, and yes, I cry. Her painful beginning is felt in this song, but now, her soaring highs are just the beginning for this very beautiful woman.

In her, we see ourselves, knowing that we let so many things slip through our hands instead of reaching for them. God Bless Susan Boyle. She is all of us.

Susan, Susan … yours is a voice that bathes the ears and a direct, honest delivery that pierce the heart. Your amazing gift assaults the crude, cheap trickeries in today’s entertainment industry and we are brought to our knees with it. Never ever let the media mavens package your gold with plastic. Stay true, stay honest, stay deeply filled with your own integrity. You have something that pours healing on the spirit. I am brought to tears by your voice and the elegant simplicity of your vocal interpretations. Thank you. Thank you.

leaked? Does anyone out there really believe anything is leaked without intention? You either love susan or you hate the Dame. And as a lover i will gladly play it off youtube, to my hearts content, and pay the 99 cents to download the song to cast my capitalist vote!
