In the context of what we know about her past relationship with Chris Brown, the song is more than just a little bit creepy. However, it does have power and represents an artist looking to make a statement. The ending of the song in particular is probably not for the squeamish. zzz snoozefest she deliberately drags the lyrics no variation monotones no emotional attachment at all. and in the context of what has happened to her, this song and the album cover (wtf – Rated R hahaha) exemplifies that she IS no victim just a willing participant in what happened in the past. instead of actually bringing some dignity and intelligence to the issue of domestic violence, what does she resort to? some gun shots, some lame wimpering and a song about pulling the trigger? womp womp
huge Fan of her, love her vocals and she is one of the most beautiful women right up there with Hallie Berry. I don’t “FEEL” this mix of the song. a kick ass dance mix is sure to come. Shocking? A bit controversial? Best professional card to play to market the album and get folks talking. Controversy helped Mariah Careys “obsessed” single and subsequent album get chatted up with rumors of it being a dis between the Diva and Eminem. Sometimes it back fires. The last time I saw a beautiful woman on an album cover naked and tied up it was Miss Janet “the Velvet Rope” the album tanked… Maybe she needed a little controversy eh? I do antisipate the Rhianna CD release there will be some good tracks on it no doubt about! She is a Star and is here to stay! I bet a dance mix is released to punch up sales pre release… we shall see
Seems as if people listen to anything with a good beat and catchy chorus…we need to pay attention to the content…the lyrics…some of these musical artist delve into some dark stuff and it’s something that NONE of us need to feed our minds with. Some will say “well it’s just words”…but words have power “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverb 18:21 So speak LIFE and watch what you’re nodding your head to people!
