The tag line is "electronic-tinged ethereal powerpop (for the soul)." After listening to just a few songs, every piece of the description sounds accurate. One of the most pleasing experiences of attending this year's Warped Tour involved sitting on the ground for the 25 minutes or so it took for Sarah Saturday to stand onstage with her bass guitar and deliver the exceedingly beautiful pop songs created by her partnership with Beau Sorenson in Gardening, Not Architecture. It was quite easy to feel entranced in a mental pop music reverie.

Gardening, Not Architecture started as a side project for the duo in an apartment in Madison, Wisconsin in 2004. Somehow that seems not that far removed musically from Owl City starting in a basement in Minnesota. However, where Owl City aspires to a heavily orchestrated dream-like sound, Gardening, Not Architecture's songs are refreshingly down to earth. Gardening, Not Architecture was intended to be a studio-only project, but as a buzz started to generate through online distribution of the songs, Sarah Saturday began putting together a live translation of the music. National touring took place through Gardening, Not Architecture's leadership in the Earn It Yourself (EIY) movement. A slot on this year's Warped Tour is the next step forward for spreading the musical pleasure that is Gardening, Not Architecture.
