Who Are Duck Sauce And Why "Barbra Streisand?"

By October 17, 2010

Follow me on:

First off, Duck Sauce is a collaboration between DJs Armand Van Helden and A-Trak. Armand Van Helden has been one of the world's top recording dance DJs since the early 1990s. He hit #1 on the UK pop singles chart in 1999 with "U Don't Know Me" and then again last year with "Bonkers," his collaboration with Dizzee Rascal. Armand Van Helden has five top 10 dance hits in the US. A-Trak is best known for his work with Kanye West. He was signed to be a tour DJ in 2004 and has worked closely with Kanye West ever since. Armand Van Helden and A-Track formed their collaboration Duck Sauce in 2009.

Duck Sauce first hit the charts in the fall of 2009 with the song "aNYway." It was a top 25 pop hit in the UK. Now the duo has come roaring back with "Barbra Streisand," a catchy disco style track that samples Boney M's "Gotta Go Home," and lyrically repeats the name of singer Barbra Streisand. It lands in the top 5 on the pop singles chart in the UK this week and was performed on X Factor by Diva Fever. Why her? That is unclear, but why not the mention of such a legendary singer? The video below adds outstanding guest appearances into the mix including Kanye West, ?uestlove of the Roots, Santigold, Ezra Koenig from Vampire Weekend, and Pharrell among others. I am loving the parody of Barbra Streisand's Guilty album cover as the cover for the single. Check the song out below and you might soon find yourself saying "Barbra Streisand."
