Taylor Swift Sells 1,047,000 Copies Of Speak Now In One Week

It is now official. Taylor Swift did indeed beak the one million in one week sales mark with her critically acclaimed third studio album Speak Now. With 1,047,000 copies sold, she zipped past the last album to achieve the feat. Lil' Wayne's Tha Carter III sold 1,006,000 copies in one week back in 2008. That means Speak Now has the biggest sales week of any album since 50 Cent's The Massacre opened with 1,141,000 copies sold in March 2005. This is the biggest opening week by a woman since Britney Spears sold a whopping 1,319,000 copies of Oops! I Did It Again 10 years ago in 2000. Overall, Speak Now is only the 16th album to sell more than one million copies in one week since Soundscan began tracking in 1991.
