The path to success in the music industry for Zack Lopez and Sean Stockham, aka Middle Class Rut, has not been a simple or quick one. The pair have been making music together since they were teenagers a decade ago. Their first band Leisure split up in 2003 after a few misfires. Following a period of time traversing other paths, Zack Lopez and Sean Stockham decided to pursue their music dreams as a duo calling themselves Middle Class Rut. They have been writing and recording songs for more than four years and released 12 of them as the album No Name No Color this past fall.
The music of Middle Class Rut is arresting. It can be highly melodic while at other times intense and rock hard. Touring this fall with My Chemical Romance has brought Middle Class Rut to a wider audience. Zack Lopez says of the music of Middle Class Rut, "I feel like the music we make needs to be heard. Maybe everyone feels that way about their music, I don't know. We struggled for a long time to find something that was us and as soon as we decided that we would do it ourselves everything clicked. Realizing we didn't need anyone but ourselves to do this was important for this band. Now we want to get this out there and really get our own audience for our music."
