Glee Passes Elvis Presley For Most Hot 100 Chart Hits Ever

By February 16, 2011

The Glee cast will debut six new singles on the Billboard Hot 100 this week when the chart is published tomorrow. That will move Glee past rock and roll legend Elvis Presley to become the recording act with the most songs charted all time on the Billboard Hot 100. Even more phenomenal is that Glee has achieved this feat in less than two full years. Some pertinent facts must be heavily noted. One is that all Glee songs are cover versions of previous hits by other artists. The second is their hit songs have very short runs on the chart, and thus far only two songs have reached the top 10. However, the continued popularity of the Glee recordings with the music buying public is well worth noting. Below are the top 10 acts with the number of recordings they have placed on the Billboard Hot 100.

  1. Glee - 113
  2. Elvis Presley - 108
  3. James Brown - 91
  4. Ray Charles - 74
  5. Aretha Franklin - 73
  6. The Beatles - 67
  7. Lil Wayne - 67
  8. Stevie Wonder - 63
  9. Jay-Z - 62
  10. Rolling Stones - 57
