What seems like an unlikely combination of sweet adult pop singer Colbie Caillat and gritty, intellectual rapper Common began when they met at an event connected with the Grammy Awards in 2009. Common was performing his song "The Light," and he needed a female backup singer. Colbie Caillat knew the song and volunteered, and a mutual admiration relationship began. Now their collaboration on her tune "Favorite Song" has appeared online. It is the third song, after the singles "I Do" and "Brighter Than the Sun," to be heard from the album All Of You that hits stores this week. "Favorite Song" is bright, summery, and it is utterly charming like most of Colbie Caillat's music. Ryan Tedder co-wrote the track. Colbie Caillat hit #1 with her last album Breakthrough. She also has five adult pop top 10 hits to her credit. Common's 2007 album Finding Forever hit #1.
