By all accounts Take That's latest concert tour in the UK has been a phenomenal success. Now it is a record-setting one. Billboard is reporting that the group's recent eight concert sold out stand at London's Wembley Stadium took in a US equivalent of $61.7 million from June 30 through July 9, 2011. The group played for 623, 737 fans. This smashes an eight year old record set by Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band. In 2003 he sold out 10 consecutive concerts at Giants Stadium in New Jersey. He earned $38.6 million and played for 566,560 fans. For the entire tour Take That earned over $185 million and performed for an audience of 1,806,473 over 29 shows.
Take That's tour comes in support of the album Progress. It was the first by the group since they reunited with former member Robbie Williams. Progress sold over one million copies in just 24 days. It is counted as the second fastest selling album of all time in the UK. The album includes the #2 pop hit single "The Flood."
