Is it a sign of live music being treated as just one more product for mass consumption, or is it a positive move toward convenience for music consumers? That is a question being asked as Walmart and Ticketmaster announced that concert tickets may now be purchased from in-store kiosks at more than 500 Walmart stores. The participating stores are located around the country in states such as California, Florida, Indiana, New York, and Texas. As part of the launch of this new ticketing program, Walmart shoppers are being offered special "4 pack" ticket deals. Last year was a very difficult year for concert ticket sales. Perhaps this is a way to make access to live music more visible to a wider audience. Watch for Ticketmaster tickets at a Walmart near you.
