Is the music authentic or simply all manufactured image and gimmickry? Does it matter? Whatever your conclusion, the music of Lana Del Rey, self described "gangsta Nancy Sinatra," will transport you to some long forgotten smoky 50's era Hollywood club as you listen to the crooning, edgy, yet vulnerable voice singing of some vague broken heart. Lana Del Rey is the adopted name of Elizabeth Grant. She released an EP under the name Lizzy Grant, but it is the persona of Lana Del Rey that has riveted the attention of the music press and more than a few fans.
"Video Games" has earned two million views on YouTube since being uploaded August 19, 2011. Reportedly Lana Del Rey edited the videos herself. This week an EP of "Video Games" and "Blue Jeans" was released and briefly entered the top 5 of the iTunes album chart. Lana Del Rey also has a concert tour and album in the works.
