British singer-songwriter Rumer had one of the top debut pop releases of the year in the UK in 2011. Her album Seasons Of My Soul hit the top 3, was certified platinum, and included the top 20 pop hit single "Slow." She has been nominated for two Brit Awards, Best British Breakthrough Act and Best British Female Solo Artist.
Rumer was born Sarah Joyce in Islamabad, Pakistan and lived in an expatriate community. At the age of 11 she moved with her family back to England. She spent 10 years as a moderately successful London-based singer-songwriter before the release in late 2010 of her debut album Seasons Of My Soul. The single "Slow" undoubtedly will remind US pop fans of the Carpenters, and Rumer does list Karen Carpenter and Laura Nyro among her top influences. The music of Seasons Of My Soul is distinctly in a mellow adult pop vein. Letting the songs wash over you will slowly unveil just how simply gorgeous Rumer's music can be.
If you would like to see Rumer perform her music, she will be featured this Sunday, January 29, 2011 on CBS Sunday Morning at 9 a.m. ET. Rumer is currently on tour as well. Her live shows will wrap up February 10, 2012 in Boston, Massachusetts. Check out the music of this rising artist below.

I saw her San Francisco concert on Wednesday night. Her voice is stunning. No autotune, no vocal gymnastics, just pure beauty! She is almost TOO good for the current music scene!
