In honor of the 50th anniversary of the recording of the iconic "I Left My Heart In San Francisco," the city of San Francisco has declared Valentine's Day 2012 to be Tony Bennett Day. He will be honored in a ceremony at City Hall and "I Left My Heart In San Francisco" will be played at noon over public address systems in Union Square and Hallidie Plaza. Google is also featuring Tony Bennett today with his recording of "Cold, Cold Heart" providing the music for the Google animated Valentine's Day doodle. At the age of 85, Tony Bennett won his 17th Grammy Award this past Sunday when his album Duets II was honored as the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. He became the first artist ever to have a span of 50 years between his first Grammy Award and his most recent.
