Fans of the legendary grunge band Soundgarden who have waited 15 long years to hear newly recorded material need wait no longer. The band's new single "Live To Rise" for the soundtrack to this summer's Avengers Assemble movie is out now and available for free download from iTunes. The free offer ends April 24, 2012.  The song is expected to be included on the band's upcoming reunion album as well.

Soundgarden emerged out of Seattle's grunge scene in the late 1980s to become one of the leading lights of alternative rock. They won two Grammy Awards, and their 1994 album Superunknown debuted at #1 on the album chart. The band hit the top 40 on the pop singles chart three times most notably with the top 25 hit "Black Hole Sun." Soundgarden broke up in 1997 and reformed in 2010. This is their first completely new music since getting back together.
