Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know" Is First Single To Sell More Than 400,000 In Three Consecutive Weeks

It is looking like 2012 is the year of monster hit singles. Just when fun. finished setting sales records with their hit "We Are Young," now Gotye sweeps in with records of his own. No song had sold over 400,000 digital copies in three consecutive weeks until now. The hit "Somebody That I Used To Know" sold 542,000 copies two weeks ago, 463,000 last week, and 414,000 this week. Three other songs sold in excess of 400,000 copies two weeks in a row, but three consecutive weeks is a new record. These stellar sales figures will help keep Gotye at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for a third consecutive week while fun. remains at #2. "We Are Young" has now logged nine consecutive weeks in the top 2. Gotye enters the top 10 in pop radio airplay this week at #7 and maintains a grip on the top of the Billboard streaming chart. "Somebody That I Used To Know" has gone to #1 around the world and ranks as one of the biggest worldwide pop hits of 2012.
