It seems only fitting...just two weeks after President Barack Obama became the first sitting president to endorse gay marriage rights, Adam Lambert has become the first out gay recording artist to hit #1 on the Billboard album chart. When the new album chart is officially published tomorrow morning, Adam Lambert will be at the peak. Other gay artists such as George Michael and Elton John have hit the top of the chart, but they accomplished the feat before coming out publicly and have not released a #1 album since their announcements. Although he only finished second on American Idol, Adam Lambert has become one of the most successful of American Idol alumni. His first post-Idol album For Your Entertainment is certified gold and has sold over 800,000 copies in the US and the single "Whataya Want From Me" hit the top 10. Adam Lambert's current Trespassing album follows Carrie Underwood's Blown Away into the top slot making it three consecutive weeks at #1 for former American Idol contestants.
