It has been three years since 21st Century Breakdown, the last studio album from Green Day. To celebrate what the band calls, "The most prolific and creative time in our lives," the group will release not one, but three new albums before the end of January, 2013. They are titled Uno! Dos! and Tre! and will be released in September, November, and January. The group's lead vocalist Billie Joe Armstrong told Rolling Stone that the sound of the new music is different from American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown. It is, "Somewhere between AC/DC and the early Beatles." The band says the three albums will encompass the best music the band has ever written. The producer on the project is long time collaborator Rob Cavallo.
"Oh Love," the first single from the project, will be released digitally July 16, 2012. That is the same date it will impact radio.
Green Day first came together as a group 25 years ago in 1987. The band was given credit for helping revive punk music. Green Day's last six studio albums have all hit the top 10. Two have hit #1 and two of the group's albums have sold more than six million copies. Green Day also have three top 10 pop hit singles as well as eight songs that have topped the alternative chart.
