American Idol Season 12 may have just made itself as much a must-see upcoming TV series as X Factor USA featuring Britney Spears. Producers announced today that Mariah Carey will take a seat on the judging panel and will earn an estimated $17 million for season 12. This comes in the wake of news that Steven Tyler and probably Jennifer Lopez will both be leaving the show.
Mariah Carey is one of the most successful pop recording artists of all time. She has more #1 hits with 18 than any other solo recording artist. Her songs have spent a combined 79 weeks at #1 making her the artist with the most weeks at #1. Mariah Carey has also sold over 50 million albums in the US and received five Grammy Awards out of 34 nominations.
