In his introduction on YouTube to "Somebodies: A YouTube Orchestra," Gotye mentions that he was reluctant to add to the growing mountain of re-interpretations of his hit "Somebody That I Used To Know." However, the temptation to create a meta version that blends together the sound and video of a wide range of YouTube covers was too great. "Somebody That I Used To Know" is one of the biggest pop hit singles of recent years. It has hit #1 in nearly every major pop music market around the world. US sales have passed six million and it spent eight weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 while also topping the alternative, dance, rock, adult contemporary, and adult pop charts. "Somebody That I Used To Know" is currently the top selling pop song of 2012.
