It has been seven years since the Rolling Stones went into the studio together to record new music. The first fruit of those labors is the new single "Doom and Gloom." It is being released as a teaser for the group's 50th anniversary greatest hits collection GRRRR!! Greatest Hits that will land in stores November 13, 2012. That set will feature 50 songs in the standard configuration as well as an 80 song deluxe version. "Doom and Gloom" is one of two new songs on the album. It is available to purchase on iTunes beginning today. The new track was produced by Don Was with a special radio mix helmed by Jeff Bhasker.
The Rolling Stones are one of the most successful rock bands of all time. They have reached the top 10 on the album chart 36 times in the US as well as hitting the top 10 of the pop singles chart 23 times. The Rolling Stones first came together as a group in 1962 and played their first live show on July 12 of that year. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards have been part of the group from the beginning. Charlie Watts joined in January, 1963 and has remained with the Rolling Stones since. Ron Wood is the relative newcomer having joined the group in 1975. Check out "Doom and Gloom" below.
