No James Bond theme has ever hit #1 on the UK pop singles chart, and, for now, that will remain the state of affairs. Adele's critically acclaimed new Bond song "Skyfall" is selling strongly and opened at #4 in the UK and #8 in the US, but for now, it will have to settle for rising to #2 in its second week on the UK chart. That makes it the highest charting James Bond song in the UK since Duran Duran also went to #2 in 1985 with "View To a Kill."
The song that is preventing Adele from taking over the top slot? It is the celebrated final single from dance music supergroup Swedish House Mafia before they go on hiatus. "Don't You Worry Child," featuring Swedish singer John Martin, looks set to open at the top of the UK pop singles chart when the official chart is released this weekend. It is already a top 10 dance hit in the US and has become the first Swedish House Mafia single to break into the Billboard Hot 100. It will be the group's fifth top 10 pop hit in the UK. Remarkably, although she racked up three consecutive chart topping singles in the US, Adele has only reached the top of the UK pop singles chart with one song, "Someone Like You."
