At first glance there seems to be a decade of aging between Willow Smith's first splash at age 10 with "Whip My Hair" and her latest song "Sugar and Spice" which samples "Codex" by Radiohead. However, the obvious connection between the two is a brash, lay it all on the table, approach to making music. "Sugar and Spice," with its chorus, "I tried to be sugar and spice, but I'm melancholy and can't do anything right," sounds disturbingly adult for a 12 year old. However, as the daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith has grown up in the glare of spotlights and is likely internally aged beyond her years. There is no indication when "Sugar and Spice" will be available for purchase, but it is assumed that Willow Smith is still working on her debut album Knees and Elbows.
