In a blog post that she also shared via Facebook with her fans, Kelly Clarkson assailed music industry legend Clive Davis over what she claims are distortions of fact in his just released memoir The Soundtrack Of My Life. In particular she disputes his story about her "hysterical sobbing" over his insistence the smash hit "Since U Been Gone" be included on her album. Also, she takes on his assertion that the album My December was a commercial failure and it was her fault.
Kelly Clarkson and Clive Davis clashed in the past over My December. It is impossible to know for sure the complete story on these events. However, Kelly Clarkson is correct when she asserts that My December was not a commercial failure. It included the top 10 pop hit "Never Again" and the album itself has been certified platinum. Regardless of the commercial fate of My December, it remains an artistic triumph and a vital part of Kelly Clarkson's catalog.
