Is it the long arm of Adam Levine's success on The Voice? Or are Maroon 5 simply hitting their stride? This week the band's current single "Daylight" becomes their third from the album Overexposed to hit #1 on the mainstream pop radio chart. It follows "Payphone" and "One More Night." That makes the album Overexposed the first from a group to generate three #1 pop radio hits since The Sign by Ace Of Base back in 1993-1994. "Daylight" is also Maroon 5's sixth #1 pop radio hit overall placing them two ahead of the closest group Black Eyed Peas who have four.
Maroon 5 have experienced a phenomenal level of commercial success in the less than two years since lead vocalist Adam Levine became a mentor on the NBC TV series The Voice in April 2011. Since that point the group have released four consecutive platinum top 10 hit singles and the platinum certified album Overexposed. The group had only reached the top 10 with three singles previously over nearly a 10 year period.
