It has been 17 years since Belinda Carlisle, lead vocalist of the Go-Go's and successful solo pop artist, has released a new single in the US. Now she has broken that long streak with the dance pop song "Sun." Belinda Carlisle says, "When I first heard 'Sun,' I immediately knew I had to record it. It's the best song I've recorded since 'Heaven Is A Place on Earth.'" The new song is also included on a just released Universal Music compilation titled Icon which includes Belinda Carlisle's biggest solo hits.
As lead vocalist of the Go-Go's, Belinda Carlisle sang lead on two top 10 hit albums and two top 10 pop hit singles. The group were one of the first successful all female pop bands that played their own instruments. They are considered an indispensable part of 80s pop music. In 1986 Belinda Carlisle branched out as a solo artist with the debut album Belinda. She was an instant success heading to #3 on the pop singles chart with "Mad About You." It was followed by three more top 10 pop hit singles and the platinum certified album Heaven On Earth. She took part in the 2001 Go-Go's reunion album God Bless the Go-Go's. Belinda Carlisle participated as a contestant on Dancing With the Stars while touring both with the Go-Go's and as a solo artist. Check out her new recording "Sun" below.
