Oh Sweet Lorraine Fred Stobaugh

Once in awhile something comes out of left field to climb up the charts and pull our attention away from the everyday in pop music. "Oh Sweet Lorraine" written by 96 year old Fred Stobaugh is one of those. The song was written in memory of his wife of 72 years. Fred Stobaugh submitted his song to an online competition by Green Shoe Studio in Peoria, Illinois. Although the submission didn't quite fit the requirements of the contest, producer Jacob Colgan was touched by what he read and decided to professionally record the song. He also put together a short documentary film to publicize the song and Fred Stobaugh's story via YouTube. Today "Oh Sweet Lorraine" has climbed all the way to #6 on the iTunes sales chart. Watching the film it is impossible to not be moved by Fred Stobaugh's story and his reminder of the power of enduring love.
