Although it is the imagery of a naked Miley Cyrus literally riding a wrecking ball that has drawn hordes of viewers in the first 24 hours of release, the most affecting portions of the music video are those that show her face close up occasionally with tears as she sings the song. "Wrecking Ball's" 19.3 million views on Vevo in 24 hours obliterated the previous record of 12.3 million in the first 24 hours of One Direction's current hit "Best Song Ever." The song "Wrecking Ball" is soaring in sales as well. It has pushed Katy Perry aside at the top of the iTunes sales chart. The music video was directed by sometimes controversial fashion and documentary photographer Terry Richardson. He has been the subject of accusations of inappropriate behavior with young female models particularly in the creation of his book Terryworld. However, others have come to his defense. Recent controversies have pushed Miley Cyrus into the center of pop culture attention. Fortunately, portions of the "Wrecking Ball" music video focused on her greatest artistic gift, a powerful singing voice. Watch the video below.
