George Michael Arrested on Drug Charges

Just when his musical legacy was on the rise again courtesy Ace Young's smoldering version of "Father Figure" on American Idol, George Michael is back in the tabloids. According to reports, he was found Saturday evening February 25, 2006 slumped over in a car in London. A concerned person spotted the singer and called police.
George Michael was checked by paramedics and did not need treatment. However, he was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs and then released on bail. George Michael made a public statement about the incident today and said "I was in possession of class C drugs which is an offense and I have no complaints about the police who were professional throughout." He also said that the event was "my own stupid fault, as usual."
George Michael first rose to prominence as half of the pop duo Wham! in the 1980's. They were a near instant success, but George Michael was even more successful as a solo artist. He has recorded 6 #1 pop singles including "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" (Listen), "Father Figure," (Listen), and "Praying for Time." (Listen) In 2004 he scored 2 #1 dance singles with "Amazing" (Listen) and "Flawless (Go to the City)" (Listen)
