Kelly Clarkson Cancels Summer Tour

Thursday June 14, 2007

There's more trouble in Kelly Clarkson land.

"I can't tell you how much I've been looking forward to getting out there to perform for y'all. In the craziness of the music business, performing is what I look forward to doing the most, so it really is disappointing for me to have to tell you that I won't be coming out to tour this summer. The fact is that touring is just too much too soon."

The tour promoter, LiveNation, issued a statement from CEO Michael Rapino saying "Ticket sales have not been what we anticipated and we came to the realization that we had bit off more than we could chew." Tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase.

Has Kelly Clarkson really lost some fans already due to the negative response of some listeners to "Never Again"? She does go on to provide a hopeful tone in her statement saying "But I promise you that we're going to get back out there as soon as is humanly possible to give you a show that will be even better."

Meanwhile, stop by the revamped Kelly Clarkson official web site. Isn't that photo just a bit creepy? Sort of like one of those pictures on the wall that follows your every move with its eyes?

Not clever to bad-mouth your boss in public!

I think it was a bit big-headed and unrealistic of Kelly to think she could do whatever she wanted on her album. Even legends like Rod Stewart have to toe the line and do what Clive Davis wants.

She seems to forget that she cannot take all the credit for her success so far. A lot of it stems from the fact that she had all the publicity from AI, and she co-wrote with professional songwriters who knew how to write a song with a good hook.

It will be interesting to see what happens with her in the future. I think she will be eclipsed by Carrie Underwood.
