Daughtry - Leave This Town

The debut album from the band Daughtry has sold over four million copies in the US and is the fastest selling debut by a rock band in SoundScan history. The group seems to have picked up where they left off with the first single from the upcoming album, "No Surprise," landing inside the pop top 25 in its first week. Artist in the Wings - Hot Chelle Rae

The sound is straight ahead pop-rock, but the band is out of Nashville, Tennessee. They are on their way up and a place in the spotlight seems a high probability. The first single is "I Like To Dance" and an album is on its way this fall from Jive Records. The song was heard recently on the hit TV show So You Think You Can Dance.

"I Like to Dance" is great guitar crunch party music. The band is trying what is clearly a marketing move, but a win for fans as well. The single is available currently for free download. It will let you get to know what looks like a hot band on the way up just a bit better. Follow the link below.

Panic at the Disco Split Down the Middle

It seems like a major split, but members of Panic at the Disco past and present are urging their fans to not...um...panic. Two days ago guitarist Ryan Ross and bassist Jon Walker announced they will be leaving the group. That leaves vocalist Brendon Urie and drummer Spencer Smith to continue on as Panic at the Disco. Ross and Walker plan to work on their own projects together, and their message announcing the split said, in part, "Though the four of us have made music together in the past, we've creatively evolved in different directions which has compromised what each of us want to personally achieve."

Panic at the Disco's plans to join No Doubt on tour in August are still in place. A third Panic at the Disco album is planned. Rumors are floating around that the new music will be more like the group's breakthrough album A Fever You Can't Sweat Out that featured the big hit single "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" and not the most recent album Pretty. Odd.

Casey Kasem Has Recorded His Final Countdown

An era in pop music radio came to an end this past weekend with Casey Kasem's final countdown show. The 77 year old radio legend told listeners that his America's Top 20 show from this past weekend would be his last countdown. Casey Kasem of course is best known for hosting American Top 40 from its inception in 1970 through 1989 and then again with the rebirth of the show from 1998 through 2004 until his retirement turned over the reins to Ryan Seacrest. In a very personal sense, Casey Kasem's work promoting the best in pop music to the world has been a powerful influence on the path I have taken. Thank you, Casey, "Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars."
