Eminem is the bestselling album artist of the past decade. Out of six studio albums and three compilations, six of them hit #1 on the album chart. Recovery will be his seventh studio album.
Change from 'Relapse 2'
In March 2009 when Interscope Records announced the upcoming May release of Eminem's album Relapse, the label also indicated a Relapse 2 would follow late in the year. Following a number of delays Eminem announced in April 2010 that there was no Relapse 2. Instead an album named Recovery was planned in its place. Eminem stated, "I had originally planned for Relapse 2 to come out last year. But as I kept recording and working with new producers, the idea of a sequel to Relapse started to make less and less sense to me, and I wanted to make a completely new album. The music on Recovery came out very different from Relapse, and I think it deserves its own title."
