At this year's Grammy Awards he was the winner of the Best Male Pop Vocal Award for "Say" from the film The Bucket List. John Mayer is also recognized as one of the most talented guitarists in the music business.
Experimental Recording Technique
John Mayer has stated that he is using an experimental approach to putting together the album Battle Studies. Writing, demo recording and final recording are being merged into one stage. Mayer has also created a blog to allow fans to follow the process of development of the album. In this way he has introduced a number of songs that will be included in the final collection.
Personnel On John Mayer's 'Battle Studies'
John Mayer is co-producing Battle Studies with Steve Jordan, his studio drummer and a member of the John Mayer Trio. Pino Palladino, another member of the trio, is the bassist on the album. Chad Franscoviak, the engineer of John Mayer's album Continuum is returning as engineer for Battle Studies.

John Mayer has announced on Twitter that "Who Says" will be the first single from Battle Studies. Other songs that are expected to be included on the album:
