The best collections in the NOW! series are those that combine major hits with those that are still climbing up the chart and occasionally a hidden gem or two. All of the songs included here are very familiar to any serious pop music fan. There are no unfamiliar songs here to discover.
A Change From the Past
One significant change from past NOW! collections is the absence of country music. Typically, the albums have included at least one or two country hits to diversify the range of music included. The narrowing of musical genres included lends a certain blandness to the album leaving it sounding almost exactly like a current pop radio playlist.
This criticism is not intended to deny the quality of the music included. 4 #1 hit singles are here as well as a significant number of other high quality pop hits.
Sales Competition
The last two NOW! collections both debuted at #1 on the album chart. However, this new set is unlikely to overcome strong sales of Tim McGraw's latest release to reach the top of the chart. Whether NOW! 24 can match the sales prowess of earlier installments in the series remains to be seen.
