For the past several weeks 2005 American Idol runner-up Bo Bice has been off the American Idols Live! tour nursing himself back to health. He abruptly left the tour in mid August with serious abdominal ailments. Now he is returning for the final concert of the tour, a special added Hurricane Katrina benefit show in Syracuse, New York Sunday, September 11th.

Bo Bice's efforts to help the survivors of the massive hurricane don't stop with the American Idol concert. He reportedly is housing a family of five evacuated from Grand Isle, Lousiana in his former home in Helena, Alabama. Bice is quoted as saying "I don't know them, but I know they need help. They're human beings. That's the smallest thing I can do is let my empty house go to them."

New music is also a part of Bo Bice's contributions to the Katrina relief efforts. He and his band Sugar Money have recorded a song titled "We Can't Change This World" that Bice will perform onstage in the final American Idol concert. He hopes to release the single soon and contribute the proceeds to hurricane relief.

One more effort is a personal visit to Louisiana and the launch of a web site, Bo Bice Relief, to raise funds to aid survivors of Hurricane Katrina as well as other causes including AIDS Research and Farm Aid.
