Skylar Laine was born February 1, 1994 in Brandon, Mississippi. She grew up hunting deer and working in her family's grocery store the Beatty Street Grocery. Skylar Laine graduated from high school a year early and is now working toward a degree in nursing.

However, Skylar Laine has continued to show a gift for attacking the song and turning in a strong performance week after week. She did finish in the bottom 3 among the top 6 but was the first of those announced as safe. She is the only country singer among the top 5 in season 11.
