Grammy Award winning singer Michelle Branch, age 22, gave birth to a baby girl named Owen Isabelle on Wednesday, August 3, 2005 in a Los Angeles hospital. The baby is the first child for Branch and her husband Teddy Landau. Owen weighed 7 lbs. 12 oz., and both mother and child are reported to be healthy and resting comfortably. Branch and Landau married in May, 2004 and Owen is their first child.
Michelle Branch's pregnancy apparently caused some difficulties with music executives at her record label. Branch's latest musical project is the duo the Wreckers with Jessica Harp. The pair pushed for the upcoming album by the Wreckers to be released early, so that Michelle Branch could promote the album prior to being exiled from airplanes in her pregnancy's final months. Unfortunately, the album was just finished last week and a release date has not been set. The song "The Good Kind" by the Wreckers was featured on the soundtrack for One Tree Hill.
During the pregnancy Michelle Branch was not shy of publicity. She shared a 4D Ultrasound photo and a photo of herself performing pregnant with the Celebrity Baby Blog. She also shared with the media her anxieties about giving birth. No complications for the pregnancy have been reported other than Owen Isabelle arriving one week overdue.
The parents Michelle Branch and Teddy Landau first met when he signed on as bass player for Branch's band. Their marriage raised some eyebrows as Landau is 19 years older than Michelle Branch.
